Sailing away into Science and Math! With this lesson, students will get to create their own boats and test them. Based on which group they choose, students will test their boats based on distance, weight it can carry, how well it will turn or how fast they can get it to go. They will be grouped with pairs. Working together they will try to beat everyone with the same test as them. There will be time for trial and error and also time for the students to retry their experiments.
This activity allows students to put their brains to the test, makes them research ways to best make their boat and also allows them to learn to work together on a project. This activity will challenge them and make them understand that science and mat can interlock and work together to make something move how they want it to.
